Adult Spiritual Formation Classes

All Saints' is blessed to have a number of outstanding teachers and mentors among us. Join us in the library each Sunday (except for holiday and summer weekends) and you will be engaged and challenged with opportunities to deepen your spiritual praxis (practices) and knowledge. There is a wisdom tradition in Christianity that is deep, rich and exciting. Here is the place to find experienced guides for your journey of seeking in those places.

Nooma Videos & Discussion
Sundays from 9:45 am in the Rite 13 room (except July 13)

Each NOOMA is a short, well-produced video that touches on issues that people care about, want to talk about, and are real to our world and experience. The intent of the discussions is to help you find direction for integrating your spiritual life into your everyday life. Each week we will have a new video and a new facilitated discussion, so please drop-in as your summer schedule allows.

Wisdom Class
Tuesdays 10:00 AM in the Library
Led by Jan Hilton

The Wisdom Class will begin reading Richard Rohr’s newest book Things Hidden: Scripture as Spirituality on Tuesday, May 6. Richard Rohr is a Franciscan priest who has written inspirational books on prayer, simplicity, and social justice. His latest book suggests ways to read the Bible that he says put the heart and the head together, thus avoiding fundamentalism. A few quotes from the book:

“Prayer and suffering are the two primary paths of transformation. Only people who have first lived and loved, suffered and failed, and lived and loved again, are in a position to read the Scriptures in a humble, needy, inclusive and finally fruitful way.”

“My lifetime of studying Jesus would lead me to summarize all of his teaching inside of two prime ideas: forgiveness and inclusion.”

The Wisdom Class meets on Tuesdays at 10 am to about noon in the Library with Jan Hilton serving as mentor and facilitator. Please join us in reading Richard Rohr’s new book.

The Class on Nonviolence
Third Wednesday each month at 6:00 p.m
Led by Chuck Shamel and Joann Luckie in the Library

EfM (Education for Ministry)

EfM is a four-year program of study that includes a survey of scripture, church history and theology. In addition, there is an opportunity for theological reflection -- listening for the voice and presence of God in the life of the world. Students commit to one year of study at a time in small classes with an experienced EfM mentor. There is a fee for this course and scholarships are available. We have three EfM groups, morning and evening. For more information about classes beginning this fall call the office at 855-6294.
