LifeStreams for Thirsty People
A casual, family-friendly and shorter service at 8:45 a.m.
What is LifeStreams?
LifeStreams is a fresh, new expression of the spirit of the Anglican tradition. It’s an intergenerational, participatory worship experience that combines our own liturgical language with Anglican liturgies from other countries, such as New Zealand and Wales, with a mixture of contemporary and traditional music and an emphasis on involvement by both youth and adults. It’s a “come-as-you-are” invitation to encounter Christ through music, scripture, hospitality and interaction with others.
What is the worship service like?
LifeStreams begins at 8:45 am each Sunday in the Labyrinth area on the first floor of our church building. There are hospitality and greeting opportunities both before and after the service. It’s a service comfortable for people of all ages who thirst to experience God’s love through Christ in a relaxed setting and in a culturally relevant way.
The LifeStreams liturgy is centered on the gospel and on the celebration of the Eucharist. It is expressed through a combination of spoken readings and prayers, musical praise using different instruments and more contemporary music, multi-media presentations, and, occasionally, by creative congregational responses to the scriptural lesson and gospel readings. The use of image projection allows visual presentation of the liturgy, the readings and the music lyrics instead of using prayer books and hymnals. Relevant photographs and images permit us to focus our prayers of thanksgiving and intercession.
The LifeStreams liturgy is inspired by our contemporary culture with a more casual and relaxed atmosphere providing a new door to experience the fullness of God in community, in each other and in ourselves. LifeStreams honors the beauty and depth of Anglican tradition, but is a fresh expression of its spirit.
